That is -2, so it is a bug in the code, or a corrupted file, and not a
file-limit problem (it is 4 GB not 40 GB anyway).

Can you find out what file you are scanning when this happens?
You can run with -v, and then see what the last file scanned was when
you see the warning.
Then open a bug on bugs.clamav.net, and attach the file.
