I don't have logs that go back that far close to hand, but can you also
plot the number of signatures that clamav had loaded at each point?  I'd
be surprised if there wasn't more of a correlation with that than with
version number.  There have been some memory management fixups, but
overall, my impression is that it's largely correlated with the amount
of space it takes to hold a few copies of the databases in RAM.
